Dad-O-matic: First Day of Kindergarten. Hard on Dad & Mom Too

    David...good post. I'm going through the same experience as we speak. We're currently going through the orientation process and all the parent/teacher meetings this week. She starts full time in a week and I can't believe it. It feels like it was yesterday that we were taking her home from the hospital. Crazy stuff man, crazy.

    I remember this day well when my son had his first day of school. We even have the same picture of child and first backpack. Are there any parents out there that do not have this picture or one like it? I am glad that this is only one of many great memories that I have, and am sure will continue to have, at least until he is gone from home and on his own. It saddens and yet thrills me that this day will eventually come. I love that this is your third time through this, and yet it is like your first. :)

    I remember that day very well for myself and my oldest. Tomorrow my daughter heads off to start kindergarten. Hard to believe that the "baby" is old enough to go to the big kid school now.

    Today my granddaughter brought home a handprint she made at school on her first day of kindergarten, which was yesterday. It had a cute poem on the bottom that my wife attempted to read, and got only halfway through, tearing up. She handed it to me.

    Like I was going to hold up any better.

    My daughter, (the girls mother) actually had to read the whole thing for us.
