My name is Allison Gilbert and I am a mom in NY. Am I allowed to leave a post here? :)

I was so happy to read your comments about Grandparents Day. A bunch of parents I am connected with celebrated the holiday by doing something a little different -- We honored the grandparents our children no longer have in their lives. My mom and dad passed away several years ago -- but I still try to provide opportunities for my kids (7 & 9) to try to know them...

I remember when this came out and I was a young boy. My grandfather told me at the time this was a 'Hallmark' holiday. A holiday created just to sell more greeting cards. From that day on I made cards for him for this day instead.

I miss him greatly. Happy belated Grandparents day Grandpa and Grandma! (Don't worry Grandpa, this didn't cost me anything.)
